Exterior Changes
The 2024 Hyundai Sonata gets a major redesign on the outside, with a new front end, rear end, and side profile. The front end is particularly striking, with a new thin, wide daytime running light bar that spans the nose. The functional headlights have been tucked away into the new, larger grilles. The rear end is more modestly changed, but tweaks include the trunk lid and accompanying taillights that have become a simple bar to match the front. The rear bumper has detail changes, too. The Sonata N Line gets slightly more aggressive front grilles and rear bumper trim compared to the other trim levels.
Interior Changes
The interior of the 2024 Hyundai Sonata has also been completely redone. The dashboard features a pair of 12.3-inch screens for instruments and infotainment, which are housed in a curved monolith atop the dash. Underneath is a full-width air vent design. There’s also a new three-spoke steering wheel with the traditional Hyundai badge replaced by the four square pixels of the Ioniq models. Appearing from the Ioniq cars is also the column-mounted shifter. For the Sonata Hybrid, it gets steering wheel paddles to control regenerative braking strength.
New Features and Powertrains
One of the biggest new features for the 2024 Hyundai Sonata is the addition of all-wheel drive. It will be available only with the naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. Returning are the 2.0-liter four-cylinder hybrid and turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder for the N Line. The turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder has been dropped from the lineup.
Other new features for the 2024 Hyundai Sonata include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, over-the-air updates, a 12-inch head-up display, a Bose 12-speaker sound system, Digital Key 2 (for using a phone as a key), and a power trunk lid.
Pricing and Availability
The 2024 Hyundai Sonata will be available this winter, just in time to try out that new all-wheel drive. Pricing hasn’t been announced but should be similar to the current model, which starts around $26,500.
Conclusion
The 2024 Hyundai Sonata is a major update over the current model, with a new design, new features, and new powertrains. It’s sure to be a popular choice for midsize sedan shoppers when it arrives this winter.
